FASHION DESIGNING COURSE
The PG and Research
Department of History, under the Women’s Studies Centre, has initiated a free
Fashion Designing Course for all students of our college, with the aim of
empowering women entrepreneurs through skill development. This course commenced
on 2nd July 2025. The program was inaugurated by Sr.Secretary, K.C.Alponsa,
along with Dr.Rev.Sr.Sheela V.J., Principal, Dr.Shani Ruskin R., Head of the
Department, and Dr.Saumya Raj S.R., who delivered the welcome address. Faculty
members from all departments actively participated in organizing and supporting
this initiative. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Dhanish Fathima R. The
course is conducted by expert trainer Ms. Rebekka, who is teaching essential
tailoring and fashion design skills such as basic stitching, kerchief making,
blouse designing, chudidar stitching, and traditional Aari embroidery work.
These skills aim to equip both students and staff especially women with the
ability to become self-reliant and pursue entrepreneurial opportunities in the
fashion and tailoring sector. Students have shown great interest and
enthusiastic participation. The course not only enhances creativity and
technical ability but also lays the foundation for launching small-scale
tailoring units, boutiques, or freelance design ventures. Nearly 15 students
have participated and benefited from this initiative.
