Self Defence and Safety Awareness Workshop

*National Service Scheme (NSS) of Providence College for Women, Coonoor, organized a Self Defence and Safety Awareness Workshop for Women on 10 March 2026 at 10:30 a.m. in the MMT Hall.* The programme was organized with the objective of creating awareness among women students about personal safety, self‑confidence, and basic self‑defence techniques that can be used in emergency situations. The Resource Person, *Mr. Roshan Donald*, delivered an informative and practical session. He is a BHM, MBA, and MAA National Level Athlete, Taekvondo 3rd Dan Black Belt, ISA Black Belt and Vice President of UMAT. He is also the Founder of Rocky’s Combat Mixed Martial Arts Academy, Ooty. During the session, he explained various self‑defence techniques, safety measures, and awareness strategies that women can adopt in their daily lives. He also demonstrated simple techniques to escape from dangerous situations and encouraged students to develop confidence and alertness. The programme was organized by *Dr. Shani Ruskin R.* and *Dr. Jeeva C. Programme Officer* under the guidance of the Chief Patron, *Sr. Alphonsa K.C* (Secretary) and *Dr. Sr. Sheela V.J* (Principal). Many students actively participated in the workshop and benefited from the practical demonstrations and awareness session. The workshop was highly useful in empowering women with the knowledge and skills necessary for self‑protection and safety. The programme concluded successfully with positive feedback from the students and staff.
